cateye repair
I'chiliad looking into suggestions on repairing the internals of the cateye blinker system on my 1977 puch newport. Everything inside is toast. batteries appear to exist leaky, and the board is fried - (noticeable scorch marks )
What are my options?
ane)await in B/S for new stock internals
2)swap with something off the shelf at a machine parts?
3) throw them away they are garbage
4) yo sell me them cateyes!!!
5) did yous even search the forum????

Agreed, that doesn't look bad at all. New batteries and these probably work keen.

That's 100% fine and swell! Simply oxidization. Toothbrush and some alcohol will make clean that off only oxidization on a trace won't stop it working at all.
Starting time determine the kind of battery, should say on the cell. Probably nihm or nicd. Determine voltage(I'm certain there's a thread hither if it's not printed on the bombardment).. And so measure the width of the battery then the length in mm.
For example an 18mm x 650mm battery volition be sold every bit an 18650 cell. Then just search the googler...
Information technology'll help to find them with solder tabs already installed only information technology'southward not strictly needed.

Sugariness thanks for this info. I'll get on this tonight and written report dorsum. It says 6v stamped on the bombardment pack.

I think they are called sub-c cells, a hobby store or batteries plus can make you ane.

Those prices are high ^ Plus the compartment is a tight fit, You'd accept to cut those open up and re-wire, you need to have ane atomic number 82 (-) on the correct tiptop and 1 lead at the bottom left (+), that'southward the way it's designed. If you have both wires on the top y'all'll take a difficult time getting it to close,

Probably exist meliorate to find out what information technology really needs first. If it'southward designed to charge nicad and then get nicad. If information technology'southward nihm go nihm. Those packs are fashion also expensive as your just gonna have to cut them upward...should be able to get the cells for like $two-3 apeice.
How many cells are in the stock pack? iv or 6?
You can test the thing with an former 6v lantern battery.

Just wire it into the tail calorie-free coil and have sweet working blinkers no batteries

If you lot compare the ones above to Lord's day morning motors they're cheaper and the same number of cells (5) no need to cut open. And the leads do fit in the example. Just saying.

That still seems very expensive to me, but hell. If it's plug and play cracking. Well, solder and play only all the same
